A former small surface and underground W prospect/mine located in the SE ¼ sec. 3 and the NE¼ sec. 10, T. 16S., R.22E, 3.5 miles SSW of Johnson, on private land. Owned by the Primos Chemical Co.
Mineralization is a vein deposit with hübnerite and minor scheelite in a quartz vein system hosted in altered Laramide quartz-monzonite (the Texas Canyon Quartz Monzonite (52 ± 3 M.Y.)). The ore body is tabular, strikes N45E and dips 50-70S. There are two sets of veins. One set is described above. The second set is an en echelon vein system striking N60 to 75E and dipping 40 to 60S. Striae in the Yankee Pride faults indicate reverse movement.
Local structures include Tertiary block faulting trending NNW. Regionally, Late Cretaceous or Early Tertiary N- to NW-trending folds and thrust faults override to the NE.
Workings include a 40 foot adit and numerous open cuts. Workings yielded about $26 thousand in tungsten concentrates (period values). Several tons of tungsten concentrates were produced in the early 1900's.
