Nikitovka Deposit, Novyy Donbass, Gorlovka, Donets'k Oblast' (Donetsk Oblast'), Ukraine

Nikitovka mercury mines produced about 30 thousand metric tons of mercury prior to shutdown of the operation in 1994 (mining had started in 1885).
Cinnabar-bearing ore zones include three thick (> 60 m) faulted sandstone horizons. Mercury is also dispersed within coal.
