A former small underground Pb-Zn-Ag-Au-Cu-Mo mine group located in the NE¼NW¼ sec. 23, T.20S., R.22E, 1½ miles S of Tombstone, on private land. Owned at times, or in part, by the Grand Central Mining Co., Tombstone Consolidated Mines Co., Bunker Hill Mines Co., and the Tombstone Development Co.
Mineralization is partially oxidized base metal sulfides with some wulfenite and chlorargyrite in fault breccia in Cambrian Abrigo Limestone and Bolsa Quartzite. Ore control was a N-S dike and a fissure with N20E strike and a dip of 76W.
Local structures include the north side of the Ajax Hill horst and south of the E-W-trending Prompter Fault. The Abrigo Limestone dips 35 to 45E.
Workings include extensive shaft workings on 8 levels to a depth of 240.18 meters. Up to 40,000 tons of ore were produced in the 1880's and smaller amounts were produced intermittently up to 1928 (combined production of the Emerald and Silver Plume mines). Workings on eight levels.
