A former small surface Mn mine/group of claims located in the NW ¼ sec. 17, T.19S., R.25E, 5 miles north of Old Camp of Courtland, eastern foothills of the Dragoon Mountains, on private land. Discovered 1940. Operated by Mr. D.C. Mangum of Lowell, AZ (1943).
Mineralization is manganese oxides in irregular bunches, seams, and nodules in fractures in shattered Cretaceous Bisbee Group limestone. Replacement in limestone in the form of bugs and stringers diluted by chert.
Workings comprise shallow pits. Two carloads of picked ore were produced during WWII (as of April, 1943).
