A former small underground Cu-Ag-Au-Mn mine located in south-central (S of NE¼SW¼) sec. 21, T.23S., R.24E., on the south end of Escabrosa Ridge, about 2,000 feet WSW of the Cole shaft, and approximately 2¼ miles W of Warren, on private land. Discovered 1917. Owned at times, or in part, by the Phelps Dodge Corp. and the Boras Leasing Co.
Mineralization is irregular, pipe-like replacement orebodies of partly oxidized copper mineralization along fault zones in Cambrian Abrigo Limestone. Irregular and spotty stringers, veinlets, and pods of hard manganese oxides along fissures and as replacements in limestone.
Workings include a shaft(s) to a depth of 335.28 meters. At least two shafts present, one inclined. Some 50,000 tons of copper ore were produced, mainly from 1920-1926.
