A former small underground Mn-Cu mine located in the South-central sec. 22, T.23S., R.24E, approximately ½ mile W of Warren on private land. The workings are on both sides of the road a short distance SE of the Galena shaft.
Mineralization is hard manganese oxides, minor copper mineralization, and some manganiferous calcite in narrow, elongated lenses and irregular masses along fissure zones in Pennsylvanian-Permian Naco Group limestone.
Workings are shallow surface openings. One shallow open cut is about 25 feet long. Also, two additional shallow cuts about 75 feet apart. The largest open cut is 60 feet long, 3-6 feet wide, and 10 feet deep. A few hundred tons of manganese ore were produced during WWI.
