A former medium-output surface Cu-Ag-Au-Mn (V) mine located in the NW ¼ sec. 22, T.23S., R.24E., about 1,000 feet SSW of the Briggs shaft. Discovered 1918. Owned by the Phelps Dodge Corp.
Mineralization is irregular replacement masses along a N10ºW striking fault zone of fissuring in the Pennsylvanian-Permian Naco Limestone. Ore consists of hard manganese oxides with iron oxides, calcite and minor copper staining in scattered orebodies. Ore control was faulting and the associated brecciation. An associated rock unit is the Sacramento Hill Stock. Small amounts of silver on the Danville, Hanchette Fraction, & No. 4 claims.
Local structures include common pre-mineralization faulting and tilting; faults with strikes of N10W to N40E, and S30W to N50W, pre-mineralization.
Workings include open cut and shallow pit openings along a distance of 500 feet. At least 1,400 tons of manganese ore were produced from 1914 to 1920.
