A former medium output underground Cu-Pb-Zn-Au-Ag mine located in the East-central (NW¼SE¼) sec. 16, T.23S., R.24E. (Bisbee 7.5 minute topo map), approximately ¾ mile W of Lowell, on private land. Owned at times, or in part, by the Calumet & Arizona Mining Co. and the Phelps Dodge Corp. (1930). Operated by the Oliver Leasing Co.; the Calumet and Arizona Mining Co.; and, the Phelps Dodge Corp. (1930).
Mineralization is mostly oxidized copper and minor lead-zinc ores, mainly in brecciated and fractured Devonian Martin Limestone cut by small porphyry dikes. Ore control was nearby dikes and sills, and faulting and associated brecciation. Ore concentration was bornite replacing pyrite. Alteration is gossan with Mn and fe oxides induced by hydrothermal metamorphism. An associated rock unit is the Sacramento Hill Stock.
Local structures include common pre-mineralization faulting and tilting. Main fault directions are N10W to N40E and S30W to N50W.
Workings include a shaft(s) to a depth of 243.84 meters. Several hundred thousand tons of ore were produced of the totals of Calumet & Arizona and Phelps Dodge. Work was started in 1930 to reopen the Oliver Mine, a property of the Calumet and Arizona Mining Co., by the Oliver Leasing Co.
