The Island Mine is located in Isle Royale National Park and is unique in that it is the only mine on the island that mined a conglomerate for its copper. Organized in 1874 as the Island Mining Co., the mine only operated 3 years, drilled one shaft, and produced 213,000 lbs. of refined copper. Collecting is prohibited.
