An underground copper mine towards the north shore of Isle Royale. The Minong Mining Co. organized in 1874 and worked two small openings into the side of a cliff. The company reorganized in 1879 as the Minong Copper Co. Operations were ceased in 1881 and was worked by tribute until 1883. The Minong Mine produced approx. 500,000 lbs. of refined copper. The mine site can still be visited where one can find copper and pumpellyite, but collecting is strictly prohibited.
