A former surface and underground Cu-Fe-Ag-Au mine located in the SW¼ sec. 9, T9N, R17W (protracted) (Black Peak 15 minute topo map). Owned and operated by Mr. Carrigan (1910); and the Arizona Standard Copper Co. (1924).
Mineralization is irregular, tabular, replacement bodies and some vein and breccia fillings of hematite cut by stringers and disseminations of copper carbonates, in Precambrian gneiss and schist and Paleozoic limestone overlying the Precambrian metamorphics along a probable thrust fault zone. Copper sulfides were reported at depth.
Workings include a shaft and open cut workings. This mine was prospected and worked sporadically from the early 1900's to about 1924 but only a few high grade shipments were made.
