A former underground Cu-Au-Ag-Fe-Baryte mine group located in the North-central (NW¼) sec. 13, T7N, R13W (Salome 15 minute topo map). Owned at times, or in part, by Bullard; Donnelly & Walcott; Lee; Huthmacher & Frisbee; Mathews; Garrick; Cripple Crew Mining Co.; and the Marvel Mining Co. Mine area called the Bullard District at one time.
Mineralization is lenses and pockets of copper sulfides with gold and silver values and associated quartz, iron oxide and some barite, in a strong NW-striking fissure vein. Ore is oxidized down some 400 feet with a narrow leached zone and sulfides beneath. Mineralization also includes secondary copper minerals. Wall rocks are Precambrian gneiss intruded by granite and cut by diorite and other dikes.
These claims were patented in 1907 and were mined intermittently, from tunnels and shafts, into 1960 by various lessees and owners. Total production would be some 2,000 tons of ore averaging about 6.6% Cu, 0.3 oz. Au/T and 0.3 oz. Ag/T. This mine was the second largest producer in the district.
