A Au-Cu-Fe prospect with underground workings located in sec. 12 & in the NE¼, sec. 13, T8S, R21W (protracted), near the NE tip of the Gila Mountains, on BLM-administered land. Operated by the Amoco Minerals Co., Englewood, CO (1986).
Mineralization is in metamorphosed Mesozoic (?) sediments near Mesozoic granite. It is hosted in black schist that strikes N.75ºW. & dips 70ºS. & has been cut by several faults. 2 neighboring quartz veins, generally less than 2 feet wide, strike & dip approximately with the schist. Quartz of the veins is dense, vitreous & white. In places extensively brecciated & cemented with ferruginous calcite and hematite that weather black.
Workings include an old shallow shaft & a few old short tunnels. During 1984-1986, a geologic evaluation and surface drilling project was undertaken. No production record.
