Arizona Bureau of Mines file data.
A Cu-Au-Ag-Fe mining district located T.9-11S., R.17-18W., about 6 miles South of Wellton. Substantially in the Wellton Hills, but with several mines in the Copper Mountains to the ESE.
Mineralization is: (1) Lensing, irregular quartz veins along fissure zones in Mesozoic schist, gneiss, and granite with spotty oxidized copper and gold; and, (2) small gold placer deposits.
Workings include mostly small, surface prospects and shallow mines, operated sporadically from the late 1800's, and a few minor gold placer operations. Total mine production would be some 415 tons of ore containing about 8 tons of copper, 153 oz. of gold and 300 oz. of silver. Only about 28 oz. of gold, with 8 oz. of silver, have been reported as produced from placer operations.
