A former surface and underground group of Mn mines located in the SE ¼ sec. 39 & the SW ¼ sec. 35, T.2S., R.23W. Owned at times, or in part, by Brown; and, the Western Exploration & Development Co.
Mineralization is manganese oxides, with calcite and brecciated wall rock, in irregular bunches and lenses along strong fracture zones in Tertiary andesitic volcanics.
Workings include open cut and adit operations. These mines were worked intermittently from 1954 through 1959. They produced some 2,000 long tons of low grade Mn ore for concentration.
