A former surface Pb-Ag-Au-Cu mine located in the West-central (SE¼SW¼) sec. 35, T.23S., R.16E. (protracted), in the northeastern part of the camp just NE of Washington, on National Forest land. It was located about 1880 by David Harshaw, W.C. Davis, and others. Owned at times, or in part by the Duquesne Mining & Reduction Co. (1889- ); Sestiago; the Curtis Estate; Harshaw; and, Davis et al.
Mineralization is an irregular and shallow replacement orebody containing mainly argentiferous lead carbonate in silicated Permian Naco group limestone along the contact with Laramide granodiorite (granite porphyry). In depth, only weakly mineralized soft, decomposed conglomerate or breccia-like formation and altered rock.
Workings include open pit operations. Worked for Pb-Ag ore in the 1880's and 1930's. Total production would be some 2,000 tons of ore averaging about 23% Pb, 20 oz. Ag/T, and minor Au & Cu.
