A former underground Pb-Ag-Cu-Zn-Au mine located on 8 claims in NW¼ (N½) sec. 12, T.21S., R.14E., ½ mile north of the Alto Mine, in the upper north side of Apache Gulch, which separates Alto Hill from the mountains to the north, at an elevation of about 5,500 feet, on land of mixed status. Owned at times, or in part, by Verfuth & Co.; Henderson; Laguna; Beardsley & Co.; O'Keefe; and, Headley.
Mineralization is sulfides that are oxidized near the surface with silver enrichment, in an irregular quartz-fissure vein cutting Cretaceous rhyodacite tuff and interbedded arkose.
The country rock is gray diorite intruded by granite porphyry and latite. The property contains 5 or 6 veins or ledges, but the deposits are contained principally in the Wandering Jew vein, which has a reported length of about a mile. At the mine the vein varies from 6 inches (15 cm) to 4 feet (1 meter 20 cm) wide and dips 50ºN., into the mountains. The gangue is principally quartz.
The ore is principally sulphides. The oreshoot is 400 feet long at surface and extends to at least the 100 level.
Developed to the 100 level by 2 shafts 300 feet apart, drifts, tunnels, and crosscuts aggregating about 2,000 feet of work. Also has a trench between the shafts on the vein. Worked sporadically from the early 1900's through 1951, producing some 1,700 tons of ore avearging about 11% Pb, 3 oz. Ag/T, and minor Cu & Au.
