A former small underground Cu-Au-Ag-Pb-Zn-Mo mine located in the SW ¼ sec. 4, T.17S., R.5E. (protracted), on the southern end of the Comobabi Mountains, and about 4-6 miles North/NE of Sells. Owned by M.M. Holmes & Padres; and, Maxwell.
Mineralization is oxidized and weathered quartz veins with minor, spotty base metal sulfides along a fissure zone cutting Laramide granitic rock. There is gold enrichment in the surface zone.
Workings include shallow shafts and tunnels. Worked intermittently from 1931 to 1940. It produced a few tons of ore averaging about 0.9 oz. Au/T, 1.5 oz. Ag/T and minor Cu, Pb & Zn.
In 1942 Mrs Holmes claimed about 6 feet of ore running 1% or better Mo02 with gold in the hanging wall. A later independent report says gold is the principal mineral and mentions no others.
