A former underground Cu-Ag-Au mine group located in the NW ΒΌ sec. 23, T.18S., R.15E. Owned/operated at times, or in part, by the Helvetia Copper Co.; Michigan-Arizona Development Co.; Helvetia Copper Co. of Arizona; Chilson; Elgin Mining Co.; Helvetia Mining Trust; and McFarland & Hullinger (1960).
Mineralization is irregular, pyrometasomatic replacement lenses of copper carbonates and sulfides, controlled largely by faults, fractures, and favorable silicated Paleozoic limestone, in thrust-faulted and deformed blcoks.
Workings include shaft and tunnel operations. Produced some 40,000 tons of ore averaging about 2% Cu and 0.3 oz. Ag/T in 1899-1902 and sporadically in 1947-1960.
