A Cu-Ag-Au (Be) mine located in the NW ¼ sec. 24, T.18S., R.15E. (Sahuarita 15 minute topo map). Owned at times, or in part, by the Helvetia Copper Co.; Michigan-Arizona Development Co.; and the Helvetia Copper Co. of Arizona.
Mineralization is copper carbonates and sulfides with cupriferous pyrite in deeply oxidized, irregular, pipe-like replacement orebodies in an altered Paleozoic limestone block along a thrust fault. Some high-grade pulverulent mixture of copper carbonate and chalcocite occurred along strong fracture zones in crushed and silicified limestone.
Workings include shaft operations and surface cuts. Operated from the early 1880's to 1912 with a sporadic production of some 30,000 tons of ore averaging about 3% Cu and 1 oz. Ag/T.
