A former small surface placer Au mine/deposit area located in sec. 12, T.18S., R.10E., along Ash Creek on the Sunshine-Sunrise group of claims & in Pescola Canyon, 5 to 9 miles E of the Palo Alto Ranch and about 30 miles SW of Tucson, on the west side of the Sierrita Mountains.

Mineralization is relatively small placer deposits, hosted in gravel, resulting from weathering and erosion of mineralized veins and replacement bodies.

Worked mainly prior to 1900 by Mexicans, and to a small extent in the 1930's and 1940's. Total estimated production was not more than a few 1,000's of ounces of placer gold.
