An Fe-Cu occurrence/mine started about 1850. Located on the East end of Finksburg. Ore is in a silvery schist. Workings include a depth of about 365 feet (120 meters)[the South Mine was only about 100 feet deep to the first level] with 2 mine levels at 100 & 160 feet, each about 200 yards (190 meters) long.
The map marker for this pit was called the Orchard Mine in Heyl and Pearre (1965). Note, the road to the south of the mine may have bowed to avoid any potential collapse feature.
