A Cu-W-Zn-Mo-Pb mine comprised of 14 unpatented claims, located in upper Wheeler Wash, NE portion of the Hualapai Mountains, sec. 26, T.20N., R.15W. Owned by George Laxton (1940).
The prevailing rock is medium-grained granite, intruded by a large stock of granitoid rock and associated aplite dikes. Mineralization is a persistent vein 2 to 6 inches wide that strikes N-ward and dips 70º E. Vein filling consists of coarsely crystalline, iron-stained, dull white quartz, locally with scattered small particles of tungsten minerals. On the steep slope West of camp are several pyritic quartz veins to 2 feet wide that strike N.60ºE., and dip steeply SW. In places they contain a little molybdenite. Farther up this slope is a vein that strikes N. to N.30ºW., dips 80ºE., and is traceable on the surface for a length of some 3,000 feet. Its filling consists of coarsely-crystalline, banded, iron-stained, dull-white quartz, in places 2 to 4 feet wide. Much of its outcrop shows cavities after pyrite. Some portions of this vein, near the hanging wall, contain abundant crystals of wolframite, generally near the hanging wall.
