A group of Mn claims located in sec. 3, T.11N., R.13W., about ¼ mile South of the McComas deposit, and in the same arroyo. Owned by J. Shanahan. Produced only during 1930.
Mineralization is a deposit that is the topmost stratum of red sandstone (Chapin Wash sandstone) that is partly replaced by manganese oxides. This bed is 3 feet thick and is exposed on the West bank of the arroyo for 600 feet. The sandstone beds strike N.25ºW. and dip 25ºW. The ore bed is displaced a few feet in several places by northerly faults that dip steeply East.
