Latitude: 33°0'29"N
Longitude: 111°41'39"W
A corundum prospect located in the SE¼ sec. 12, T5S, R5E (Phillips reports the township and range as 6S, 6E), about 1½ miles due W of Sacaton Peak.
Mineralization is a coarse-grained, locally iron-stained granite intruded by dikes of dioritic porphyry and hard, dense felsite. Crystalline corundum, and associated quartz and rutile, form irregular masses up to several inches in diameter, in the felsite dikes.
The future of production of abrasive quality corundum in Arizona is practically nil; however, specimens of gem (largely semi-precious) quality may still be found.
