Östliche Goldeckgruppe, Paternion, Gailtaler Alpen & Karnische Alpen, Kärnten, Österreich
The Goldeck group represents the southeastern section of a roughly east-to-west running mountain range separating the Penninic rocks of the Hohe Tauern to the north from the Central Alpine Permomesozoic rocks of the Gailtaler Alpen to the south. It mainly consist of gneisses, phyllites and amphibolites. Topographically, the Goldeck group forms the northeastern part of the Gailtaler Alpen. The geological boundary is situated north of the lake Weißensee, to which it runs roughly parallel.
