Numerous abandoned lead-zinc mines, prospects and "diggings" occur in the Linden area. They were active from the early 1800's through the 1950's. Few traces remain today. The deposits are interesting in that nickel minerals occurred with the usually galena and sphalerite ores. Major mines in the area include: Robarts-Hinkel mine; Treglown and Captain Wicks mine; Glanville mine; Linden Open Cut mine; Mason (Linden) mine; Optimo No. 2 mine; Dark Horse-Optimo No. 1 mine; East Glanville mine; Ross mine; West Glanville mine; Gilman mine. The Gilman Mine is the type locality for honessite.
