Afritz Mts, Villach, Carinthia, Austria

Afritzer Berge, Villach, Kärnten, Österreich

East of a line which approximately runs along the Lieser river valley, across Millstatt lake and down the lower Afritz stream valley, the older central alpine rocks ('Altkristallin') are covered by upper palaeozoic rocks ('Gurktaler Decke'), mainly metavolcanites, phyllites, schists, siliceous schists, marbles and dolomites. The southwestern and southern boundaries of this complex are formed by the Millstatt lake ridge ('Millstätter Seenrücken'), a low mountain range to the northeast of the Drau river valley, southeast of Spittal, and, further east, the Afritz Mts ('Afritzer Berge'), a minor range north to northwest of Villach.
