Copper Mines (incl. Grafendorf; Monsell), Dellach, Kötschach-Mauthen, Gailtaler Alpen & Karnische Alpen Mts, Carinthia, Austria

(Kupfergruben (einschl. Grafendorf; Monsell), Dellach, Kötschach-Mauthen, Gailtaler Alpen & Karnische Alpen, Kärnten, Österreich)

Ancient copper and iron mines, working mineralizations in quartz-barite veins. Started around 1650, the mines were first worked for copper. Since the abundance of copper ores decreased at greater depth, the production was shifted to iron after a short period of time. The mines were abandoned around 1720. Located south of Dellach and about 7 km ESE of Kötschach-Mauthen.
