(Gebiet Hochstadel - Rosengarten, Hochstadel, Gailtaler Alpen & Karnische Alpen, Kärnten, Österreich)
Quartz crystals with finely dispersed asphaltum inclusions (not smoky quartz) in vugs and fissures of upper triassic limestones. Located east of Hochstadel mountain, close to the tyrolian border. Actually, this area belongs to the eastern Lienzer Dolomiten Mts. The major part of this mountain range, with a geology very similar to that of the Gailtaler Alpen Mts, is situated further west, in East Tyrol.
