Hüttschlag, Großarltal, Radstädter Tauern, Salzburg, Österreich
North to south of Hüttschlag, the Großarl valley is crossed by a zone of greenslates. The slates carry sulphide impregnations, which were the object of some mining activites in the past (starting around the end of the 14th century), such as at Karteis, Astentofern, the Schwarzwand and at the Kree Alp. Less extensive workings, not explicitly listed here, were located at Zwieselegg mountain (about 4 km SSE of Großarl), near Harbach (about 3.5 km S of Großarl), the Bichler Alp ('Bichler Alm', about 3 km SE of Großarl), and at the Toferer Scharte (about 3 km WSW of Hüttschlag). The mineralization in these places is essentially the same.
Last prospecting work was done in 1946/1947.
