Blue Bird Mine (Bluebird Mine; Bluebird Cobalt Mine), Stanley Butte area, Stanley District, Santa Teresa Mts, San Carlos Indian Reservation, Graham Co., Arizona, USA
Latitude: 33°3'21"N
Longitude: 110°19'5"W
A former underground Co-Au-As-Ni-Pb-Cu mine located in the east of the SE¼ sec. 6, T9S, R26E (per MRDS), about 10 miles SW-W of Geronimo, AZ. Conflicting information concerning location but the set of coordinates provided herein plus the description of the location match; however, it can not possibly be in R26E (R20-21E would be more reasonable for the description of lying some 10 miles WSW of Geronimo). ADMR U file states sec. 5, T5S, R21E, which is more reasonable. Discovered 1935.
Mineralization is lens-shaped ore body(ies) (pegmatite dikes) in Precambrian granite. Cobaltite, glaucodot, pyrite occur in short en echelon lenses, cut by shear zones and later chalcopyrite and pyrite veinlets. The entire zone is about 400 feet long. Not much chance of extensions.
