A number of quartz crystal mines are found in the vicinity.

NOTE: The phosphates (planerite, wavellite) are not from this quartz locality, but are from Mauldin Mountain Quarries, Mauldin Mt., Montgomery Co., Arkansas, USA.

At http://www.mindat.org/mesg-105-324828.html Rock Currier reports "James Zigras who is involved in quartz and wavellite mining in Arkansas and he says that the four images of wavellite (posted at this locality) are from Mauldin Mountain Quarries, Mauldin Mt., Montgomery Co., Arkansas, USA...." James "says, and has confirmed with Shane Manley, a long time digger of quartz and wavellite in Arkansas, that the Mount Ida Mountain Mine, Mt Ida, Montgomery Co., Arkansas, USA was only a quartz mine and never produced wavellite and that this mine operated a long time ago and that it is unlikely that any of the quartz specimens pictured actually came from that mine."

Shall I change them? He says, and has confirmed with Shane Manley, a long time digger of quartz and wavellite in Arkansas, that the Mount Ida Mountain Mine, Mt Ida, Montgomery Co., Arkansas, USA was only a quartz mine and never produced wevellite and that this mine operated a long time ago and that it is unlikely that any of the quartz specimens pictured actually came from that mine. It might be better to just move them to the user only galleries."
