Other/historical names associated with this locality:
Blygruvan
Name(s) in local language(s):
Blybergsfältet

The Blyberg mining field is located roughly 12 km SSW of Grängesberg and straight W of Ställberg railway station. Strikes ~NNE, and covers an area of about 500 x 1000 m.

In principle, one can speak about iron ores, Pb-Cu & Mo-W ores.
Iron ores- skarn and carbonate enriched magnetite always with sulfides.
Pb-Cu: Impregnations and lenses in skarn or carbonates with iron-ore.
Mo-W: Only in the southern and northern part of the field in garnet-pyroxene-amphibole skarn.

Mines (with names from H Hübner) N to S:

Norra Lövgruvan,
Lövgruvan,
Barrgruvan,
Vägskälsgruvan,
Sörgruvan,
Brattgruvan and
Kolbotten

Hübner (1968) mentions boulangerite as well, Bi and Sb - but only in two samples - occurring in PbS.

Scheelite occurs sparingly in skarn in the southern part.
