This small mine is situated on the lower slopes of High Pike beside a small gill called Gill Beck (although it has also been known as Priestman Gill and Man Gill). The area was first explored in the early 1800's when the vein was first discovered but little work was done. The mine was then re-worked in 1867 and exploited a NNW-SSE copper vein on two levels. However the mine was never very successful and mining here finished just a few years later in 1874.
