de Milhou's Reef (de Milhou's lode; Emerald mine), Emmaville (Vegetable Creek), Gough Co., New South Wales, Australia

Located approximately 9kms NNE of Emmaville and approximately 8kms South-West of Torrington.

Operated as underground workings, shafts, adits and shallow pits.

Originally mined for tin, Emeralds were observed in the dumps around 1890 and subsequently, the area was re-mined. The deposit is related to the intrusion of pegmatites and aplites into mudstones and siltstones. The emeralds occur in pegmatite dikes; the crystals are embedded in granitic cavities that have weathered to kaolinite.
