Jianchaling Mine, Mian Co., Hanzhong Prefecture, Shaanxi Province, China

Latitude: 33°15'N
Longitude: 106°22'E
煎茶岭金镍矿, 勉县, 汉中市, 陕西省, 中国

A gold and nickel mine at the northern margin of the South China craton, which was started in 1996 and jointly works separate gold and nickel ore bodies that are about 1.4 km apart.

The gold ore bodies are hosted in folded and faulted rocks of the Palaeoproterozoic Xuehutaiping Group (dolomite, siliceous dolomite, dolomitic limestone, and, locallly, carbonaceous slate) at the contact with Proterozoic ultrabasic rocks (mainly serpentinite, listvenite and magnesite) that are intruded by Hercynian veins and stocks, such as granite-porphyry, albitophyre, and quartz diorite. Gold is preferentially deposited along NNE- and NNW-dipping fault segments, is also associated with shallow WSW-dipping, dolomite-dominated veins and occurs as disseminations of economic grade within a 5-10 m thick zone below the contact with the hanging wall. The bulk of the ore is hosted in ultrabasic rocks. The nickel ore bodies are hosted in magnesite and are located about 1.4 km further north.
