A disused quarry in the Great Limestone extending both sides of the Stanhope to Middleton-in-Teesdale road. To the West of the road there is an exposure of small flats containing small pink fluorite twins. This is in very fractured an unstable rock.
To the East of the road veins outcrop in the quarry face and there is an area of mineralised limestone which has been left unworked. Some crystals of fluorite showing exceptionally good colour zoning have been found in an area of the quarry tip in recent years.
