B1-basalt, Holmestrand, Vestfold, Norway

From a unspecified locality near Holmestrand, in a pyroxene-basalt (B1-sequence)in the lower part of the Vestfold lavaplateau.

Maghemite has been found as a supergene alteration of magnetite that occurs as 0,01-0,08mm small crystals in the basaltic rock (Everdingen 1960).
