Mine to the east of the main Cowgreen Mine, as the name suggests, working a group of smaller but more numerous veins including: East Cowgreen or Teesdale, Hopkins, Middle, Holmes, Rods and Rods Cross or Angle veins. Lead concentrates were produced in the mid 19th century before barytes became the principal product under the Hedworth Barium co. and the Anglo-Austral Mining Co.
The mine consists of a complex of adits, shafts and shallow opencuts. The grid ref. given is for the Hedworth Co.'s crosscut adit to the Hopkins Vein.
