In exposures near contact of Silurian dolomitic limestone and underlying Whirlpool sandstone along the valley of the Credit River and quarries in the vicinity.
There are 5 quarries that were notable for operation in the area surrounding Forks of the Credit, they are: Big Hill Quarry, Cox Quarry, Hillis Quarry, Crowsnest Quarry, & Yorke Quarry. Most of these quarries have been long abandoned in the 1920's and are now overgrown.
Silurian fossils can also be found and include corals, brachiopods, bryozoa, and trilobites.
