(m. 0-31 on s.l.) Modern exploitation start in 1880 and end in 1970, but this mine was known also by the ancients.
Placed on the coast, less than 2 km. at NE of the spanish fortress of Porto Azzurro, is known today for the little lake separated from the sea by a narrow beach.
Ore body was hematite and limonite, with pyrite at the bed.
