Original Old Dominion Mine (Keystone Mine; Keystone deposit; Keystone vein; Original Old Dominion vein), Pinal Creek, Burch, Globe Hills, Globe Hills District, Globe-Miami District, Gila Co., Arizona, USA

Latitude: 33°26'30"N
Longitude: 110°48'37"W
A former underground Cu-Au mine located in the E½ sec. 10, T1N, R15E, on 2 claims (Old Dominion claim; Keystone claim) on the east side of Pinal Creek, about 1 mile E of Burch and 3½ miles NW of Globe, on land of mixed status including patented (private). First worked by the Old Dominion Copper Co., the predecessor of the Old Dominion Co., but in 1883, this company bought the Globe, Globe Ledge, and Alice claims and transferred all its activities to development of the Old Dominion vein.

NOTE: Peterson (1962) makes reference to the Keystone Mine as being synonymous with the Original Old Dominion Mine (p. 69), citing Ransome (1903). Reference is again made on page 80 to the Keystone vein, placing it in the leached capping of the western portion of the Miami-Inspiration orebody, again citing Ransome 1903. On page 86 mention is made of the Keystone orebody being a portion of the Miami-Inspiration orebody. Finally, on page 97, the Original Old Dominion vein (Keystone vein) is listed among those veins in the Globe Hills area.

The vein is generally less than 1 foot (30 cm) wide and occupies a fissure that crops out in Dripping Spring quartzite. It strikes N.45ºE. and dips about vertical.

The ore consisted of an ocherous, dark red mixture of cuprite and iron oxides finely streaked with chrysocolla and malachite. The red oxides commonly showed native gold.
