Impregnations of copper and iron minerals in sandstones. The geology of the locality is the same as that of the Blauwald near Wallerfangen, Saarland, Germany, which is situated only a few kms further northeast.

The Hautbois mine was worked since the mid of the 18th century, last operations took place during world war I.
