A former underground Au-Ag-Cu-Pb-Zn mine located on 4 claims, 2 miles NNE of Crown King at 7,000 feet of altitude. Started in 1902. Reopened in 1905 and closed in 1908. Owned by Charles T. Joslin of Prescott (1926). Claims extend into the SEΒΌNWΒΌSWΒΌ of sec. 1, NWΒΌ and NΒ½NΒ½SWΒΌ of sec. 12 and the EΒ½EΒ½ of sec. 11.
Mineralization is a vein with a tabular ore body hosted in Yavapai Schist near a granite contact on the east. The vein strikes N.18ΒΊE. and dips steeply westward. The schist is amphibolitic in part and contains tourmaline and, near the vein, shows alteration to sericite and ankeritic carbonates. Ore occurs in a northward-pitching shoot 400 feet long by 5 to 6 feet wide with horizontal length of 400 feet. The most easterly vein in the district.
Foliation in the area trends N25E. Veins parallel regional foliation.
Workings include 2 tunnels and an old, 115 foot deep shaft. The upper tunnel is a crosscut for 400 feet, whence the main level runs 1,627 feet SW-ward to the old shaft. A 15-stamp amalgamation & concentration mill was erected. Ore was 15% Cu, 1 to 4 oz. Au & 10 t0 24 oz. Ag/T. Produced $135,000 net value of metals from 10,000 tons of ore (period values).
