A former underground Au-Cu-Ag-Pb-Mo-V-Zn mine located a few miles North of Cave reek P.O., adjacent to the Phoenix property on the South. Discovered 1882. Last production 1970. Owned by A.S. Lewis (1934).
Mineralization is an altered schist intruded by dikes of granite porphyry and rhyolite porphyry. The oreshoot is from 6 to 8 feet wide and contains gold at about 0.5% Mo and a little vanadium. The ore is in quartz in silicified brecciated zones striking N with a steep dip. Ore pinches and swells rapidly. Alteraton is silicification. Host rocks are Deception rhyolite and quartz porphyry.
Openings are some 600 feet of workings to 100 feet deep. Production was some 5,000 tons of ore valued at $15 ton (before 1900).
