A small mine, started by Absalom Francis in 1878 under the name South Cambrian Mine and closed in 1880, having produced only a couple of tons of zinc ore. At that time, the workings consisted of an adit driven about 90 fathoms in the west slope of Bryniau Rhyddion (SN738893), just opposite to the Eaglebrook Mine and probably upon the same lode. The dressing floors were constructed a little further downstream. The buildings were levelled during the construction of the Nant-y-Moch reservoir. The mine revived at the beginning of the 20th century, when the scene of activity shifted to an adit in the valley east of Bryniau Rhyddion (SN747892). A long tramroad was laid to the old dressing floors, but the venture survived only until around 1905, after returning only 26 tons of zinc ore.
Note: Most of the secondary copper minerals were found in the small dump associated with the dressing floors of this mine, on the north bank of Nant y Moch reservoir. And not from the main adit dump.
