Ffridd-goch Mine, Ganllwyd, Dolgellau Gold Belt, Gwynedd (Merionethshire), Wales, UK

UK Grid Reference: SH746244
Latitude: 52°48'8"N
Longitude: 3°51'37"W
A number of excavations were made on the lands of the farms of Ffridd Goch Uchaf and Ffridd Goch Penyrallt. At SH 746244 the OS 6" map shows a building to be the "Ffridd Goch Mill (gold)". This is connected to workings 600 feet above that are assumed to be those of Ffridd Goch Uchaf Mine, the only mine here to have recorded an output.

Although gold was first discovered here in 1864, no work was undertaken at this time at the behest of the landowner, Sir R W Vaughn.

The total known output for Ffridd Goch Uchaf Mine was 108 tons of gold ore giving 80 ounces of gold between 1896 and 1902. Sporadic working took place until 1922, the final tentative working being between 1919 and 1922
