A group of 21 patented copper claims with underground workings located in the center sec. 34, T.16N., R.2E. (Cottonwood 7.5 minute topo map), in the upper part of Mescal Gulch. Closed 1921. Owned by the Pittsburgh-Jerome Mining Co. ( -1921); and, the Phelps Dodge Corp.
Mineralization is a vein deposit hosted in the Deception Rhyolite. Ore control was stratigraphy and igneous activity. Ore concentration was oxidation at near surface. Alteration included chloritization and seritization. The schistosity strikes N.20ºW. Massive sulfide lenses elongate parallel to bedding in metavolcanic rocks.
Workings include a 1,279 foot long tunnel & connecting with a 900 foot deep shaft.
