A former surface and underground Au-Mo-Pb-Cu-W-Zn-V mine located on 10 unpatented claims in the SW¼ sec. 13, T4S, R15E, 2 miles NW of Christmas, on federal land. Owned by Mr. S.O. Stewart (1925).
Mineralization is ore that occurs on the south side of a NNW-trending fault, hosted in Escabrosa Limestone and the Toronado Limestone. The ore zone is 804.65 meters long, 0.91 meters wide, strikes E-W and dips vertically. Native gold occurs in thin seams with Fe & Mn oxides. Copper and arsenic veins and replacement bodies adjacent to the gold. An associated rock unit is rhyodacite.
Workings include adits & drifts; several pits open cut about 25 feet long with a drift from one end extending 20 feet to the east and a winze 12 feet deep at the end of the drift. Production was about $70,000 worth of gold (period values), reportedly produced from one of the main workings.
